Cebu Bloggers Meet (August 15, 2008)
The Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS) members convened for the 4th time (my second time to attend a CBS meet-up), this time at the Figaro Coffee Company located at the ground level of The Walk in Asiatown IT Park, Cebu City. The central highlight of the assembly was the attendance of Ms. Aileen Apolo, Google Country Consultant for the Philippines.
Before the meet-up, I dropped by SM City Cebu to finally redeem my Diego Discount Card (will blog about it soon). I then took a cab to the Asiatown IT Park. I was surprised upon being given a piece of paper by a chaperon of SM. It’s nice to know that SM now also gives their taxi-riding customers a complaint form in case anything unfortunate will happen. It’s quite an assurance, mind you.
Anyway, I was the earliest bird to arrive at the venue, an hour (3:30pm) before the assembly time that was agreed upon (4:30pm). I didn’t have problems of killing the hour though. I spent it all at the restroom cubicle (LOL) since it was cool (airconditioned) and comfy (haha). I went in and out of the restroom to buy some things to eat and drink in the cubicle. Fuh-nee but true. I consumed the rest of the hour fixing my hair (my hair is KSP).
At 4:30pm, I went out and was surprised that no one among the CBS members has arrived yet! Goodness gracious, everyone’s late!
So, I just took a seat at Shakey’s (2 stores away from Figaro) so that I could easily take a peek and know whether anyone from the CBS has arrived already.
A few minutes later, I saw a familiar figure. I guessed it right! It was Miss Wilhelmina. So I approached her (she was with a girl whom she later introduced as her sister) and we sat at Figaro’s alfresco area to wait for the other CBS members to arrive. The next to arrive was McBilly. After that, everyone else came one after the other: Arnold, Empress, Jorich, Markee, Miong (whom I met for the first time), Rodel, Winston, Xerxes.
Our special guest, Miss Aileen Apolo of Google Philippines arrived at exactly 6 in the evening. With her was a special friend, Mr. Jay de Jesus of Titik Pilipino (I visit the site often to check whether Nina’s albums are doing good in the charts. Haha. Certified fan here.) So, we had a “getting-to-know-you” portion, a short “Q&A” portion and then we discussed without any particular subject, just anything, and everything random. Later on, we engaged in conversation in smaller groups.
When we were about to call it a night, I was quite surprised at the new faces that came in next. Miss Linnor and Mr. Jerry came and introduced themselves to the group. Before parting ways, Miss Aileen also gave each and everyone of us Google freebies! Thank you very much! =D
The night ended with a satisfying dinner at Barbeque Joe’s, which deserves another blog entry.
