Cebu City Adventures and Misadventures Day 2

For Day 2 of our Cebu Tour with the Manila Bloggers, we were supposed to have lunch in one of Talisay City’s lechon outlets (Talisay City is the country’s lechon capital) and then head further south to Carcar to check out the heritage structures in the area, as suggested by Eric. The proposed itinerary wasn’t followed but then we still had adventures, and unfortunately, some misadventures as well.

At around 9:30am, I already left home for the tour (I actually skipped the 10am Sunday mass our family attends regularly just for this tour) and when I arrived at the hotel, Mica, Xie and Aaron were still asleep. I was actually the one who woke them up, haha, sorry for that guys.

So, after the four of them have prepared themselves, we then headed to Abuhan Dos for lunch. Abuhan is famous throughout the country for its pochero but it has been a few years since I last visited the said restaurant. For that, I was quite excited to dine there again.

Oooohhhlala!

While we were in the middle of our gastronomic feast, Bong texted Mica that he and his friend are now in Cebu City, from Bantayan, so we waited for them and as soon as they arrived, they had lunch as well.

After the meal, Aaron, Bong, and Xie were planning to try out the Edge Coaster Ride (one of the Sky Experience Adventure rides, the other one being the Sky Walk), of the Crown Regency Hotel. Mica already experienced the ride ahead of them. Eric was deciding whether he’ll be riding or not while I had no plans to ride at all, haha.

After some convincing, Eric finally said yes!, so they headed to the counter to register for the ride. And while they were enjoying their ride, I also enjoyed taking photos of the breathtaking views from Cebu’s tallest building. Here are some panoramas I took from above.. From the Crown Regency Hotel, we then headed to the Cebu Provincial Capitol for some photo opportunities and camwhoring sessions hahaha. It was the perfect time to do such since the capitol was embellished for the month-long celebration of the 440th founding anniversary of the province.

Weee! Jumpshot in front of the Capitol. Thanks to Eric for this photo.

Would you dare to do this at the middle of the busy Escario St. – Osmena Blvd. intersection? Haha. Only Xie can do that!

How about a jumpshot at that same intersection?

We were enjoying what we were doing so much that we didn’t notice that a lot of passersby and Capitol security guards were looking at us already. We didn’t mind since we knew that we didn’t violate any laws anyway, did we?

From the Capitol, Bong left the group and went to Ayala for a meeting, while the rest of us took a cab to the Tabo-an Market!

Tabo-an is the dried fish “bagsakan” center of Cebu. Dried fish of all shapes, sizes are overflowing! And aside from dried fish products, other pasalubong items such as chicharon, rosquillos, dried mango, etc., are also available so basically, Tabo-an can be considered as a one-stop pasalubong center.

Danggit!

The four of them had a great time haggling and shopping for their pasalubongs while I was just amazed since it was my first time to visit the Tabo-an Market.

From there, we headed to another must-go destination in Cebu, the Taoist Temple. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the gates were about to be closed. The guard explained that the temple closes at 5:30pm but when we checked our watches, it was still 5pm (and our watches were at least 10 minutes ahead of PST!) so we tried to ask the guard why he was already closing the gates and he just insisted, “It’s a management order!”.

Supposedly, this would have been my 2nd time to visit the temple (the first time was long, long ago, when I was still a year old!)

Since we couldn’t get over our failed attempt to check out the Taoist Temple, we didn’t leave immediately and instead, we sat on the sidewalk just across the gate and feasted over Eric’s dried mangoes, haha. Then, Mica, Xie and Aaron were demanding for more jump shots! XD

After a few minutes, we took a cab from the temple and headed back to the hotel so that they could leave the pasalubong they bought and then we could freshen up for dinner. And because the day tour, despite being enjoyable, was equally tiring too, Eric fell asleep as soon as we arrived in the hotel.

An hour later, we woke Eric up since Bong was already texting Mica that he was already waiting at Golden Cowrie for dinner. So, after fixing ourselves, we left the hotel and took a cab to Golden Cowrie in Lahug.

Golden Cowrie is perhaps the best native restaurant in Cebu. With sumptuous and mouth-watering dishes and very accommodating staff, one surely cannot resist the urge to visit this very popular restaurant again and again and again! Best of all, the prices are justifiable and very much affordable.

After dinner, we took yet another cab to the Asiatown IT Park supposedly to sip some coffee and non-coffee drinks but then, everyone suddenly craved for *******. Haha. So we walked towards C24 (a convenience store) for some refreshments.

Bwahahaha!

Not contented with the refreshments at C24, we took a cab back to the IT Park and headed to Mooon Cafe for even more refreshments and there, we capped off our evening.

Please wait for my separate and more detailed posts about Abuhan Dos, Golden Cowrie and Mooon Cafe soon.
