Orange Brutus Cebu Food Trip
Last Saturday, September 19, 2009, the Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS) was once again invited to another food trip, this time for a proudly homegrown brand, Orange Brutus!

The Cebu Bloggers Society with the Orange Brutus Team
SIDE NOTES:
- I would personally like to thank Ms. Hazel Icamen and the Orange Brutus Team (Ms. Nina Kokseng – Misa, Executive Assistant and Ms. Leorain Ortega – Atillo, Marketing Head) for making this event possible, and ofcourse to co-CBS member Jobette Escobanas for referring CBS to the OB Team.
- On special occasions (e.g. birthdays, recognition ceremonies, graduations, special weekends, etc.), Orange Brutus is among our family’s top choices of where to dine.
Ten CBS members were exclusively invited to the event that was held at the Southgate Plaza MEZ II Branch of Orange Brutus.
FAST FACTS:
- Orange Brutus started in 1980 when two young entrepreneurs, Earl Kokseng and Jun Pelaez, envisioned to revolutionize the food retail industry in the Visayas. As a result, the first hamburger chain in Cebu was born.
- Orange Brutus got its name from Orange Julius, a chain of fruit beverage stores. (Who killed Julius?) Why Orange? Because their orange fruit shake was their top-selling product at the time they opened.
- Orange Brutus will be celebrating their 30th year in the business next year.
- Orange Brutus currently has more than 200 employees in all their branches.
- Orange Brutus currently has 20 branches. Their first ever store opened in Colon, Cebu City in the newest department store then, Fairmart. Their 21st branch will be opening soon at the Gaisano Grand Mall of Mactan being constructed in Basak, Lapulapu City.
- Orange Brutus was the first to introduce the open preparation system, wherein bright and clean cooking areas are in full view of customers. This system was adopted to ensure customers that the food they are serving is fresh and healthy.
- Orange Brutus cooks and prepares your meals while you order, unlike other fastfood chains that have their food pre-prepared.
- Orange Brutus was also the first to introduce shakes, the usage of disposable cups and the “pay as you order” system.
- Orange Brutus continues to innovate as they see to it that they would be able to introduce a new offering every quarter. They are dubbed as “Quarter Meals”.
And here are Orange Brutus’ latest offerings:
BUDGET MEALS:
For the students, budget-conscious, cash-strapped, and individuals who simply want value for their money, Orange Brutus offers 3 new affordable meals.
B1: Burger Steak (a mini-version of the best-seller, the Sizzling Burger Steak).
B2: Chicken Steak (chicken steak with the trademark gravy they use in their Burger Steak)

B3: Cheese Burger Deluxe

All the budget meals are for P49 only each and they’re served with 12oz. softdrink or iced tea.
Quarter Meal: For this quarter, Orange Brutus is offering Beef Teriyaki

Beef Teriyaki: Highly recommended!!! Taste them while they’re still available!
Cakes and Pastries
I don’t know if everyone knows this, but, Orange Brutus also serves Cakes and Pastries! We were made to taste the Chocolate Monster.

Contrary to popular belief that their cakes are sourced from elsewhere, Ms. Atillo clarified that their cakes are home-made! The Chocolate Monster is sweet and tasty, it suits my taste buds well!
Shakes
Orange Brutus also serves shakes: Pinacolada, Melon, Orange-Mango, Mango, Pineapple-Orange, Pineapple, Buko, Ube, Dalandan, Buko-Pandan, Avocado, Pineapple-Mango, Chocolate and Orange.
For the occasion, I tried out the Chocolate Shake..

Chocolate Shake. Tastes great! Tastes like our old-time favorite chocolate ice candy…
and the Mango Shake..

Mango Shake.
Christmas Papremyo
During the event, Ms. Kokseng-Misa and Ms. Atillo also took the time to share about their Christmas promo, called the Orange Brutus Christmas Papremyo. Details are as follows:

Camwhoring
A CBS event will never be complete without camwhoring! So after everyone’s stomachs got soooo filled with Orange Brutus’s great food, we posed in front of the cameras together with the Orange Brutus Team.

To sum up, Orange Brutus is something that every Cebuano should be proud of! Congratulations Orange Brutus for 29 years of success in the industry and good luck and more power to the future endeavors of the home of the best sizzling burger steaks and fresh fruit shakes.
MEANWHILE…

After the event, we got stranded for almost an hour at MEZ 2’s public transport terminal due to heavy rain. LOL.
