Manila Foodshoppe
The Manila Foodshoppe is being described as a reasonably priced Chinese restaurant but I’d rather call it an “airconditioned carinderia“. LOL
My parents and I had this lunch last September 2008 but I could still remember how tasty the food was that day. Why airconditioned carinderia? Lookie-lookie, the interiors are simple and minimalist. No pretensions whatsoever.

…and ofcourse, their cute tissue and silverware holder

Their food is great and affordable too, very Filipino tasting.
Here’s what we ordered:
Chopsuey Guisado. (P98.00) The usual mix of vegetables, meat and seafoods in a starch-thickened sauce. I’m actually not a veggie-lover until recently when I finally realized the importance of a balanced diet in our day-to-day living. Comment: The veggies were crisp and fresh. Usually, the veggies I eat taste strong to the extent of making me feel uncomfortable and wanting to throw up but I’m glad that the sauce neutralized the veggies’ taste.
Fish Fillet in Taosi Sauce. (P114.00) It was okay but when I hear the words “fish fillet”, Chowking’s Fish Fillet with their creamy garlic dip, although cooked in a different way as that of Manila Foodshoppe’s, immediately comes to mind.

Wanton Soup. (P107.00) It was good actually, except that it was too oily for my taste.

And the ultimate shocker…
Hold on to your seats…
Drum roll please…
Beef Steak. (P120.00) Isn’t beef steak supposed to be brownish-colored? Anyway, Manila Foodshoppe’s Beef Steak reminded me of the usual pork barbecue on sticks that can be found almost everywhere in the Philippines. Upon seeing the dish after being served, I was already expecting those red beef chunks to taste like the usual Filipino pork barbecue and I was right, the beef chunks indeed tasted like the good ol’ barbecue: sweet, juicy, yummy! We weren’t able to consume the whole dish but it doesn’t mean that we weren’t satisfied, I still couldn’t get over the sweetness actually. LOL.

Upon ordering, we were expecting the dishes to be good for 1-2 persons only but when they were already being served, we thought that they were meant to be shared. Generous servings at very affordable prices and their food tastes really good, huh, so you must definitely visit The Manila Foodshoppe at Parkmall in Mandaue City. It operates daily from 10am to 10pm and they can be reached through (032) 345-5505.
