Eid’l Fitr: September 21 a National Holiday

Eid'l Fitr National Philippine Holiday

Eid’l Fitr is celebrated for three days in Arab and Muslim countries after the observance of the arduous fasting month of Ramadan, the ninth in Islam’s Hijrah calendar. Meanwhile, the Palace has declared Sept. 12 a national day for peace and sanctification of spiritual leaders. Proclamation 1869, signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Aug. 28, said promoting peace and unity is a “national responsibility” and cited the need “to pray for grace for the sanctification” of spiritual leaders.
